This might not be new news to you – but last week Facebook announced that they are in the jobs market now.
On Wednesday, it started adding job listings to its Facebook Business section.
From Facebook – “We know that finding the right talent can be a challenge. 40% of US small businesses report that filling jobs was more difficult than they expected, which is surprising when you consider that these small businesses also employ nearly half of the country’s workforce.
We’re focused on building new ways to help make it easier for businesses to interact with the over 1 billion people visiting Pages every month. Businesses and people already use Facebook to fill and find jobs, so we’re rolling out new features that allow job posting and application directly on Facebook.
Beginning today, businesses in the US and Canada will be able to post job openings, and their future employees will be able to easily find those posts on their Page or in the new jobs bookmark. This new experience will help businesses find qualified people where they’re already spending their time—on Facebook and on mobile.”
Here is a screen shot of the jobs board when I pulled it up on Monday.
Facebook’s pitch is that millions of its active users can now find jobs in a place they’re already visiting. Page administrators can create their posts, track applications, and contact those applying via Facebook Messenger.
Job seekers can narrow their search by city or area, full- or part-time preferences, and type of work. And there are currently no fees for posting jobs or for helping employers fill them, according to Facebook.
You can of course run ads to the job posting (which I would recommend – but we haven’t tested it yet – but will be shortly).
Facebook is clearly going after LinkedIn and a few other job boards out there (and focusing in on the Business user). Things are going to get interesting….and with Facebook’s launch of their workplace platform (we are currently starting to test it and will share some of our results with you soon).
Curious to hear what your thoughts are on the new job board. Are you going to use it? Let us know….
